Disappointed Fijian Drua name team with sights on Eden Park
The Drua are keen to improve on their 2023 quarterfinal exit as they have advanced to their second Super Rugby Pacific playoffs. They may be able to accomplish that this coming Saturday when they play a Blues team that has only lost twice this year at Eden Park. Since the teams’ first meeting in round one, which ended with the Blues winning 34–10, a lot has happened, and the Drua will be looking to show that they have improved this season. For what he hopes would be his last game with the Drua before he prepares to take up Flying Fijian duties, departing coach Mick Byrne has selected an explosive Fijian matchday 23.
Mesake Doge, Tevita Ikanivere, and Livai Natave will be in the front row challenging the Blues scrum, while Mesake Vocevoce and Leone Rotuisolia complete the tight five. The loose forward trio is composed of captain Meli Derenalagi, Etonia Waqa, and Kitione Salawa. Isaiah Armstrong-Ravula and Frank Lomani will attempt to unleash the attacking threats of the Drua backline as they maintain their excellent halves tandem. Waqa Nalaga on the left, Ilaisa Droasese on the back line, and Salestino Ravutaumada on the right wing lead that backline.
Playing outside the iceman Kemu Valetini, Iosefo Masi and Rieko Ioane square up in a thrilling midfield clash at center.
