“49ers Sign DL Nesta Jade Silvera to Practice Squad, Release Jonathan Garvin”
The San Francisco 49ers have added defensive lineman Nesta Jade Silvera to their practice squad, releasing DL Jonathan Garvin to create space. Silvera, who stands 6’2″ and weighs 315 pounds, was originally drafted by the Las Vegas Raiders in the seventh round (231st overall) of the 2023 NFL Draft. Over his two-year stint with the Raiders, he played in nine games and recorded 10 tackles, including eight tackles in seven games in 2024 before being waived on October 21, 2024.
Silvera, 24, hails from Pembroke Pines, FL. He played four seasons at the University of Miami (2018-21) before transferring to Arizona State University for the 2022 season. Across his college career, he appeared in 53 games (28 starts) and tallied 161 tackles, 20.5 tackles for loss, four passes defended, 3.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles.
Jonathan Garvin, who is 6’4″ and 257 pounds, originally joined the 49ers’ practice squad on August 9, 2024.
