“Warriors Avoid Major Setback as MRI Confirms Minor Injury for Stephen Curry”
The Golden State Warriors have dodged a significant setback that could have disrupted their 2024-25 season. On Monday, the team shared that star point guard Stephen Curry’s injury isn’t severe, and he’s expected to miss only two games.
Curry was injured during Sunday’s 104-112 loss to the LA Clippers. The two-time NBA MVP initially twisted his ankle in the third quarter but returned to play. He later reinjured the same ankle in the fourth quarter, leaving the game to head to the locker room.
An MRI revealed a strain, so Curry shouldn’t be sidelined for long. The Warriors noted he’ll be reassessed on Friday, meaning he’ll miss the upcoming home doubleheader against the New Orleans Pelicans.
“The MRI was positive,” Warriors head coach Steve Kerr said on Monday. “That’s the main thing. No significant damage.”
Alongside Curry, the Warriors are also missing backup guard De’Anthony Melton and forward Andrew Wiggins, with second-year guard Brandin Podziemski likely to take on a bigger role in their absence.
Curry, who recently won his first Olympic gold medal with Team USA, is averaging 18.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 6.7 assists per game at the start of the season. The Warriors are 2-1 in their first three games.
