BREAKING:Another Massive Blow As Dolphins Placed QB Tyler Huntley On Injury Reserve.

“Dolphins Place QB Tyler Huntley on Injured Reserve as Tua Tagovailoa Returns to Lineup”

As the Dolphins prepare to welcome Tua Tagovailoa back to the lineup this week, they’ll be without Tyler Huntley for an extended period. On Friday, the team announced Huntley’s placement on injured reserve.

Huntley, who injured his shoulder in Miami’s Week 7 game, will miss at least the next four games. While Tagovailoa’s return eases the loss, Huntley’s absence still limits Miami’s depth at quarterback. Previously, Huntley started three games as a substitute for the injured Tagovailoa.

Signed off the Ravens’ practice squad shortly after Tagovailoa’s concussion, Huntley quickly became the Dolphins’ go-to quarterback, even though he was new to head coach Mike McDaniel’s system. Skylar Thompson, a former seventh-round pick, and veteran Tim Boyle did not perform well in 2024, and Miami’s offense has struggled, ranking last in the NFL in scoring at just 11.7 points per game.

In Baltimore, Huntley primarily backed up Lamar Jackson, making 22 appearances (including 10 starts) in regular and postseason games. He joined the Browns in free agency but was released before the final roster cuts, allowing him to rejoin the Ravens’ practice squad before his opportunity with the Dolphins.

While with Miami, Huntley completed 59.1% of his passes for 377 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. He also added 67 rushing yards and another score. However, this stint may not lead to a robust free-agent market for him in the spring. With Tagovailoa’s return, the Dolphins will rely on Thompson and Boyle to help improve their 2-4start.
