JUST IN:A 30-Game Veteran From Kansas City Has Officially Signed a Free Agent Contract With The New Orleans Saints.

“Saints Sign Marquez Valdes-Scantling After Bills Release Amid Injury Concerns”

The New Orleans Saints have shown persistent interest in Marquez Valdes-Scantling. They first pursued him as a free agent in 2022 before he joined the Kansas City Chiefs and later showed interest again this past offseason, though Valdes-Scantling ultimately signed with the Buffalo Bills.

However, the Saints finally secured him on Monday after the Bills released him last week. With Chris Olave in concussion protocol and Rashid Shaheed out for the season with a knee injury, the Saints were in need of reinforcements at wide receiver.

Head coach Dennis Allen noted Valdes-Scantling’s experience, size, and speed, highlighting how his skill set fits the Saints’ needs, particularly after losing another speed threat in Shaheed. Valdes-Scantling, 30, has played in 98 games over seven seasons with the Packers, Chiefs, and Bills, and is known for his 4.37 speed and an average of 16.9 yards per catch in his career.

The Bills released him after he had two catches for 28 yards in six games to make room for Amari Cooper. Allen mentioned that Valdes-Scantling had a strong workout with the Saints, and his speed remains a key asset for the team.
