JUST IN:Canadiens have Re-signed a Veteran Defenseman Gustav Lindströman For David Reinbacher Replacement.

“Canadiens Re-Sign Lindström as Reinbacher’s Injury Replacement Ahead of Season Opener”

The Montreal Canadiens have re-signed veteran defenseman Gustav Lindström to temporarily replace David Reinbacher, who is recovering from knee surgery.

This year’s NHL preseason has seen numerous injuries, with the Canadiens among the teams hit hardest. In a game against the Toronto Maple Leafs, both Patrik Laine and Reinbacher sustained injuries. Laine is expected to be sidelined for 2-3 months with a knee sprain, while Reinbacher will miss 5-6 months following knee surgery.

Reinbacher was anticipated to have a key role in the AHL this season with the Laval Rocket, marking his first full year in North America. He was set to join a talented group that includes Logan Mailloux, Adam Engstrom, Owen Beck, and Joshua Roy, gaining valuable experience toward becoming a full-time NHL player.

To ensure the Rocket get off to a strong start, the Canadiens have found a replacement. They’ve just announced a one-year, two-way contract with Gustav Lindström.

Lindström, 25, is a right-handed defenseman who played 14 games with the Canadiens and four with the Rocket last season before being claimed on waivers by the Anaheim Ducks. He tallied three goals and one assist with Montreal but didn’t register any points with Laval. He also played 32 games for the Ducks, recording six assists.

However, the Canadiens immediately placed him on waivers with the intent of loaning him to the Rocket. It remains to be seen whether another team will claim him, which could be a setback for the Canadiens.

Meanwhile, the focus shifts to the Canadiens’ home opener tonight against the Maple Leafs. Fans are eager to see if tensions from the preseason will carry over, especially with both teams aiming for better results this season. It promises to be an exciting matchup.
