The news that Outlander season 8 will bring in even more new characters has me concerned about how the show will end. Although season 7 hasn’t finished airing yet, I’m already thinking about how Starz’s biggest series will conclude its epic time-traveling story. Based on Diana Gabaldon’s books, the show centers on Claire (Caitríona Balfe), a nurse from the 1940s who is transported to 1743 Scotland, and Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan), a Highland warrior. Despite the ups and downs in Claire and Jamie’s relationship, their bond is what keeps me invested.

Season 8 will introduce several new characters, including Kieran Bew as retired British soldier Charles Cunningham, Frances Tomelty as his mother Elspeth, and Carla Woodcock as Amaranthus Grey (according to TVInsider). While these characters seem interesting, it’s surprising that so many are being introduced in the final season, especially since it will only have 10 episodes. Overall, this season 8 update makes me uneasy.
