“Cowboys Defeat Giants, But Face Major Setbacks with Injuries to Micah Parsons and DeMarcus Lawrence”
The Dallas Cowboys defeated the New York Giants on Thursday Night Football, but they may have lost their star pass rusher, Micah Parsons, in the process.
On Friday, it was confirmed that Parsons sustained a high ankle sprain, which forced him to miss the end of Thursday’s game. A high ankle sprain often sidelines even top players for a period, which spells trouble for the Cowboys.
The good news is that Dallas has two games before their bye week. They will head to Acrisure Stadium next week to face the undefeated Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday Night Football. After that, they’ll host the Detroit Lions, led by Dan Campbell.
The Cowboys hope Parsons will be ready to return after the bye week, just in time for their Sunday Night Football matchup against the San Francisco 49ers on October 27th.
To make matters worse, defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence also suffered a foot injury during Thursday’s game and is expected to be out for multiple weeks.
Now, the Cowboys will be missing two of their best defenders on a defense that has already struggled early in the NFL season. That’s concerning.
With a 2-2 record, including wins against the Giants and the Cleveland Browns, the Cowboys could find themselves in trouble without Parsons causing problems for opposing quarterbacks. They managed to scrape together two wins against struggling quarterbacks Deshaun Watson and Daniel Jones, but their upcoming schedule is more challenging.
Before Thursday’s game, Dallas entered Week 4 with the league’s 25th-ranked defense out of 32 teams. Holding Jones and the Giants to 15 points might improve their ranking, but without two key pass rushers, their defensive outlook remains grim.
Parsons has been incredibly durable, never missing a game in his first three NFL seasons and already recording 41.5 career sacks. His presence will be sorely missed, as he excels at pressuring quarterbacks, drawing double teams, and making life easier for his teammates.
With the Philadelphia Eagles bolstering their roster by adding Saquon Barkley and the Washington Commanders showing signs of life with Jayden Daniels, the Cowboys will feel the pressure to secure at least one win before their much-needed early bye week.
