INJURY NEWS: Leading New York Jets Defender Is Doubtful Against the New England Patriots

Linebacker C.J. Mosley of the New York Jets was listed as questionable on their last injury report on Wednesday; however, since he hasn’t practiced this week, it is unlikely that he will play.

That choice will probably be made by the Jets (1-1) at 7:15 p.m., when they play New England.

A toe injury that he sustained during the opening series of Sunday’s game against Tennessee has prevented Mosley from practicing all week. He told reporters he “banged” his toe against a member of the Titans. He said he was “50-50” to play earlier in the week.

In the absence of Mosley, Jamien Sherwood would probably take over for him in the starting lineup. Sherwood successfully fulfilled Mosley’s responsibilities in Tennessee that afternoon.

Jets are facing a big question mark at a crucial spot with C.J. Mosley heading into Patriots showdown

With three games remaining in an 11-day window—the first two of which were away—the match on Thursday will provide Mosley with some downtime.

Two other injured defenders, cornerbacks Michael Carter II (ankle) and D.J. Reed (knee), practiced completely for the second straight day and were not listed as injured going into the game.

After being declared inactive for the Titans game 48 hours prior to kickoff last week, Reed will definitely be someone to keep an eye on.

Tyron Smith, the offensive tackle, and running back Breece Hall (quadricep) were both full participants and did not have a designated ailment. This week’s first day that Smith participated fully was Wednesday.

The report lists defensive end Jermaine Johnson as out for the season due to a torn Achilles tendon. Although they have not yet moved to fill his roster position, the Jets may do so prior to kickoff against New England (1-1).

Middle linebacker Ja’Whaun Bentley (shoulder), offensive tackle Vederian Lowe (knee), guard Sidy Sow (ankle), and linebacker Oshane Ximines (unspecified) are the four Patriots out after missing all of practice this week.

The Patriots will miss Bentley’s presence in the middle of the defense, which has surrendered just 16 points a contest. Bentley has been a productive player for New England during the previous two games.

Center Defensive end Deatrich Wise (shoulder), free safety Jabrill Peppers (shoulder), offensive tackle Mike Onwenu (hand), and defensive end David Andrews (hip) were all restricted in practice on Wednesday and are all considered questionable. Peppers is the second-leading tackler for the Patriots.

Anfernee Jennings, a linebacker, did not have a designated ailment. Marcus Jones, a cornerback, and Layden Robinson, a guard, all participated fully in New England’s last exercise despite having knee issues.
