“Liverpool’s Dominance Exposes Milan’s Struggles: Fonseca Admits Gap in Team Cohesion”

Liverpool was in dire need of a strong start to the revamped competition following their first loss of the season on Saturday.

Things seemed grim when Christian Pulisic put AC Milan ahead within just three minutes, but Liverpool quickly regained control and dominated the match.

Pundit Paul Merson remarked on how easily Milan was outplayed, noting that Liverpool could have scored even more goals.

Milan’s coach, Paulo Fonseca, offered insight into why Liverpool appeared far superior to his team. He acknowledged that the current Milan squad is far from the level of the side that defeated Liverpool in Athens 17 years ago.

Speaking to Sky Sport Italia after the 3-1 defeat, Fonseca admitted that Liverpool is “more of a team” than his players at present.

“I told the players, you can’t afford to make those mistakes in a match like this,” Fonseca lamented.

He also added, “We need to keep working so we can play well not just for 20 minutes, but for 70, 80, or 90 minutes. After we conceded the second goal, the team stopped playing, and it became difficult from there.”
