“Wyness: Rangers May Face £3 Million Payout for Clement’s Departure, Urges Stability in Rebuild”

Keith Wyness, Aberdeen’s former CEO, has suggested that Rangers could owe Philippe Clement approximately “£3 million” if they decide to fire him.

On the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old, who has held executive roles at Aberdeen, Everton, and Aston Villa, and now advises top football clubs, argued that Clement has the “football IQ” to improve the team’s performance.

Some Rangers supporters have called for Clement’s dismissal following a 3-0 defeat to Celtic on September 1, which has left Rangers trailing by five points. Clement was given a new contract last month that runs until the summer of 2028.

Despite this, Football Insider reported on September 2 that Rangers are not rushing to make a decision on his future. Wyness believes that the club should seek stability as they undergo a challenging rebuilding phase and warned that terminating Clement’s contract could be costly, estimating a potential payoff of £2-3 million.
