In a social media post that has gone viral, Klopp was seen with a tactics board explaining to a group of Borussia Dortmund legends the importance of having good “vibes” in attack.
With Liverpool’s current players away on international duty, Klopp made a surprise return to the dugout to coach “Team Blaszczykowski” during a testimonial match for his former players, Jakub Blaszczykowski and Lukasz Piszczek.
Klopp’s team was filled with familiar faces from his coaching days, including Neven Subotic, Roman Weidenfeller, and current Roma star Mats Hummels.
His opponents, “Team Piszczek,” were managed by his former Liverpool assistant, Peter Krawietz, and featured other Dortmund icons like Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Sokratis, and current Dortmund manager Nuri Sahin. With Piszczek now assisting Sahin at Dortmund, it was no surprise Sahin was involved in the event.
Klopp’s strategy, centered around “vibes,” paid off as his team won 5-4 in a thrilling match. Polish winger Kamil Grosicki and Paraguayan playmaker Lucas Barrios both scored twice, while Dortmund legend Mladen Petric added another in front of 81,365 fans at the Westfalenstadion.
The standout goal, however, came from Sahin, who impressed with a brilliant chip over Weidenfeller’s head, drawing laughs from Klopp and the crowd. Piszczek received a standing ovation as he and Blaszczykowski were substituted in the 89th minute.
