“Staveley Allegedly Forced Out of Newcastle United Amid Leadership Dispute”
It has been reported that Amanda Staveley was allegedly “forced out” of Newcastle United after being accused of being “too involved” in the club’s operations.
Staveley joined Newcastle in late 2021, playing a key role in the Public Investment Fund’s (PIF) £300 million acquisition of the Premier League team. PIF acquired an 80% stake in the club, while Staveley and the Reuben Brothers each obtained a 10% share.
She held the position of director at Newcastle until her departure in July 2024. Staveley later expressed that she would have preferred to remain at the club but did not rule out the possibility of investing in or purchasing another club.
Her exit came as a surprise, but a recent report from *The Daily Mail* offered insight into the situation. The report suggested that problems began to surface toward the end of last season. According to the report, Jacobo Solis, a senior figure from the Saudi Public Investment Fund, raised concerns about the club’s day-to-day management. In response, Newcastle CEO Darren Eales indicated that he couldn’t operate as desired due to Staveley and her husband, Mehrdad Ghodoussi, being overly involved.
This disagreement reportedly led to a rift at the top of the club, with Staveley and Ghodoussi feeling compelled to sell their 6% stake, a decision that allegedly left them devastated.
Financial expert Keith Wyness, who has served as CEO of both Everton and Aston Villa, commented on the situation, suggesting that Eales is now under scrutiny for his role in Staveley’s departure. Wyness noted that numerous leaks have emerged following her exit, fueling speculation that she was essentially pushed out of the club.
Wyness further remarked that Newcastle fans are closely monitoring Eales’ actions, as they held Staveley in high regard for her approach during her first few years at the club. He praised her for handling the transition with care, but now, dissatisfaction appears to be brewing at the club’s leadership level.
