Kevin Danso’s €25M Roma Transfer Delayed After Failed Medical; Additional Tests Required
Reports indicate that Kevin Danso did not pass his medical with Roma and will undergo further tests on Friday before finalizing his €25 million transfer from RC Lens.
Danso arrived in Rome yesterday and underwent the standard medical exams, but things didn’t go as expected.
According to Sky Sport Italia and Corriere dello Sport, the defender failed his medical at the Campus Biomedico in Trigoria.
Roma are reportedly not overly concerned at this point but are waiting for the results of additional tests that have been ordered.
Sky Sport Italia reports that Roma is considering bringing in Tiago Djalo from Juventus on loan with an option to buy for €9 million as a precaution in case Danso is not cleared.
The issue appears to be related to the Lega Serie A fitness tests, which are necessary for all players to participate in professional football and often focus on cardiac health.
Danso is a significant investment for Roma. The deal is structured as a loan with an obligation to buy, totaling around €25 million.
The Austrian international center-back, who will turn 26 next month, has earned 23 senior caps for his national team.
Danso joined RC Lens in the summer of 2021 for €5.5 million and has already made three appearances for the French club this season.
