Two More Steps to take—Danny Rohl

Danny Rohl has set his sights firmly on silverware after Rangers swept aside Annan Athletic 5-0 at Ibrox to book their place in the next round of the Scottish Cup, with Bojan Miovski stealing the headlines thanks to a clinical hat-trick.

Fielding a much-changed side, Rohl still watched his team deliver a ruthless performance that underlined their growing confidence under his leadership. Miovski wasted little time asserting himself, opening the scoring before calmly adding a second to give Rangers a commanding 2-0 lead before the break.

Any lingering doubt was extinguished early in the second half when Kieran Dowell arrived late in the box to slot home a third. Miovski then completed his treble from the penalty spot, showing composure to send the goalkeeper the wrong way. Substitute Thelo Aasgaard provided the perfect flourish, curling a superb free-kick into the top corner to cap an emphatic afternoon.

Since replacing Russell Martin, Rohl has overseen a remarkable turnaround in form. Rangers now sit third in the Premiership, level on goal difference with Celtic and six points behind leaders Hearts, and the German coach believes his side can challenge on multiple fronts.

“I think in general we can play for two titles at the moment,” Rohl said. “That’s what we want. We’ve made good progress, but now it’s about consistency and belief.”

Adding to the optimism around Ibrox is the arrival of Danish winger Skov Olsen, who has joined on loan from Wolfsburg until the end of the season, with an option for Rangers to make the move permanent.

The 26-year-old is eager to reignite the form that made him such a standout at Club Brugge, where he scored 49 goals and registered 30 assists in 124 appearances.

“I want to bring extra strength to the front line, both to score and to create,” Skov Olsen told BBC Sport Scotland. “I’ll try to go inside, outside, shoot, set up my mates. Even if I lose the ball, go again. That’s my game.”

Despite limited opportunities in Germany, Skov Olsen insists his confidence remains high and says Rangers fans can expect him to play with freedom and ambition.

“It’s a very interesting time,” he added. “We have to take one game at a time, but hopefully at the end of the season we’ll be lifting trophies.”

The winger also revealed familiar faces helped ease his transition, having previously played with several current Rangers players during his time in Denmark.

With momentum building, a dominant cup win in the books, and fresh attacking options arriving, belief is growing that Rohl’s Rangers are becoming genuine contenders once again.
