The decision Pobega made to leave his “second family” in Milan and relocate to Bologna is described.
Tommaso Pobega, who left AC Milan to join Bologna, gave an explanation of his decision, expressing his happiness at being able to play in the Champions League once more.
Bologna confirmed last week on their official website that they have signed Milan’s Pobega on a loan until June 30, 2025, with the option to make the signing permanent after the season. According to reports, Milan will receive a pure capital gain on the option to buy, which is estimated to be between €10 and €15 million. Pobega is an academy graduate. Paulo Fonseca made it apparent that he is not a part of his goals, therefore he decided to look for fresh pastures.
In relation to head coaches, Pobega will actually work with Vincenzo Italiano again, who managed him during his first loan stint in Serie A with Spezia. Under Italiano’s guidance, Pobega established himself as a regular starter and scored several significant goals.
During a news conference today, Pobega introduced himself as a new player for Bologna and responded to enquiries from the media regarding his path to the team. His remarks were transcribed by 1000CuoriRossoblu. What is your emotional state? “I’m okay. The latter six months of the previous season were challenging, but I got off to a strong start and worked out with Milan. This is a pivotal moment for my professional life. I’m joining a good team that wants to keep winning, has had an amazing season, and has advanced to the Champions League.
I want to do everything in my power to support the team in achieving this objective. There were meetings after a brief conversation with the club and my agent’s connection to the director. I saw a vibrant bunch that was eager to participate and I was open to them right immediately. These qualities have challenged me beyond measure.
Bologna’s Champions League matchup is set. “Every player’s desire is to play in the Champions League. They are essentially the games you practice your entire life to play, and competing against large teams offers you amazing visibility. It’s interesting to see the coach again because Spezia helped me develop under his guidance. “He develops the players who contribute to the squad and makes the teams he leads perform effectively. My goal is to keep becoming better. Can you describe Vincenzo Italiano?
“It was my first season in Serie A, and he really helped me learn how to run the league and the games.” He helped me gain confidence and improve at the game. Neither his nor mine first season remains. Every game I see has the exact same concept and adheres to the same rules.
Which role is your favourite to play? “The one who most benefits the team. I’ve played left midfield, wing, and even two-man midfield over the years. The most important role in the game is the one I like to play. “I don’t disguise my tendency to move forward, filling the space and attempting to complete moves, but I adjust to suit the needs of the team and the game.”
Feelings of parting from Milan? “My two years in Milan are insufficient because I moved there when I was fourteen years old.” Since I’ve always thought of it as a second family, I want to thank everyone who works there. “Yet, from a professional standpoint, decisions must be made, and since this is essential to my career, I’m glad I made it.” What are your initial thoughts about the team? “I had my first romantic involvement with Erlic, who was also my Spezia teammate. However, I also established connections with De Silvestri, Orsolini, and Fabbian right away—people I had previously discussed matters of contention with.
“The welcoming atmosphere struck me the most; this is a welcoming group that makes an effort to include everyone. Although I’ve only been here briefly, I noticed a lot of effort to put a teammate at ease so that they could play well together during the first away game and during training.”
