Miami Dolphins Secure Defensive Anchor Zach Sieler with \$67.75 Million Extension

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — The Miami Dolphins have solidified their defensive front by signing defensive tackle Zach Sieler to a three-year contract extension worth up to \$67.75 million, including \$44 million guaranteed.

This deal, confirmed by agent Drew Rosenhaus and first reported by ESPN, makes Sieler the highest-paid defensive player on the team.

Sieler, 29, has been a cornerstone of the Dolphins’ defense since joining the team off waivers from the Baltimore Ravens in 2019. Over his tenure in Miami, he has developed into a full-time starter, recording back-to-back seasons with 10 sacks, a feat not achieved by a Dolphins defensive lineman since Cameron Wake in 2016-17.

In the 2024 season, Sieler led the team with 10 sacks, 19 quarterback hits, and 13 tackles for loss, while also contributing an interception and a forced fumble.

The extension comes on the heels of Sieler’s previous three-year, \$30 million deal signed in 2023. Despite his impressive performance, he was among the NFL’s 29th highest-paid defensive tackles in terms of average annual value.

The new contract more than doubles his average annual value, reflecting his elevated status within the league.

Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel praised Sieler’s leadership and work ethic, emphasizing his role in setting a standard for the team’s culture.

“His actions speak volumes,” McDaniel remarked, highlighting Sieler’s consistent presence and dedication both on and off the field.

Originally drafted by the Ravens in the seventh round of the 2018 NFL Draft, Sieler’s journey to the NFL was unconventional. A walk-on at Ferris State University, he has defied expectations to become a key player in Miami’s defensive lineup. His resilience and determination have made him a fan favorite and a respected leader in the locker room.

With this extension, Sieler is now signed through the 2029 season, ensuring that the Dolphins retain one of the league’s most productive and consistent defensive tackles for the foreseeable future.

As the team continues to build a formidable defense, Sieler’s presence will be pivotal in their pursuit of success in the upcoming seasons.

The Dolphins’ commitment to Sieler underscores their dedication to strengthening their defensive core and maintaining continuity within the team. As the 2025 season approaches, all eyes will be on Sieler to continue his dominant performance and leadership on the field.
