Wolves Defender Bastien Meupiyou Set for Loan Move to Alverca
Wolverhampton Wanderers’ young defender Bastien Meupiyou is set to spend the upcoming season on loan at Portuguese side Alverca, in a move aimed at accelerating his development with regular first-team football.
The 18-year-old Frenchman, who joined Wolves from Nantes in 2024, has been tipped as a future star thanks to his athleticism, composure on the ball, and strong defensive instincts. Despite training regularly with the senior squad, Meupiyou has yet to break into the first team at Molineux and is seen by the club’s coaching staff as a long-term project.
The loan switch to Alverca, a club currently competing in Liga Portugal 2, is intended to provide Meupiyou with consistent minutes in a competitive environment. Wolves believe the experience in Portugal’s second division will expose him to physical and tactical challenges that will complement his current development trajectory.
