Randy Moss ‘Doing Great’ in Cancer Recovery — Celebrates at Miami Restaurant with Dolphins Partnership

Hall of Famer Randy Moss is sounding off loud and clear: he’s “doing great” in his recovery from bile duct cancer—and celebrating a triumphant return by joining the grand opening of his new Miami fried‑chicken concept, Crisppi’s, which has just struck a multi‑year partnership with the Miami Dolphins.

The former standout wide‑receiver and ESPN analyst, 48, underwent a Whipple procedure in November 2024 after revealing a cancerous mass in his bile duct between the liver and pancreas.

After spending six days in the hospital and following up with radiation and chemotherapy, he declared himself a “cancer survivor” and stepped away from his broadcasting role in December to focus on recovery.

He made an early comeback during Super Bowl LIX coverage in February 2025. Moss returned to the set ofSunday NFL Countdown, visibly moved as he received surprise video tributes from legends like Tom Brady, Bill Belichick, Jerry Rice, Kevin Garnett, and contemporaries including Justin Jefferson. “Your boy is a cancer survivor … I got a lot of love and a lot of people believing in me,” he shared, eyes brimming with emotion.

This week’s grand opening of the Crisppi’s Chicken location on Biscayne Boulevard marked another pivotal moment in his journey. Moss, “in great spirits,” according to his business partner Brittany Tolliferreo, personally addressed attendees and media, explaining the restaurant launch had been postponed so he’d be healthy enough to lead the event.

“We could push the grand opening back a few months until I was able to physically come,” Moss told guests, adding, “Now that I’m here, my health is great, and I thank everybody for the support.”

The Miami venture isn’t simply a side project. Crisppi’s, known for its made‑to‑order chicken and waffles, has now inked a five‑year deal with the Dolphins. The NFL team endorsed the effort, drawn by the concept’s deep community roots and Moss’s influential presence in South Florida ([PFSN][2]). “The Miami Dolphins have seen something,” Moss explained. “They’ve seen our vision of us being able to give something to the community, something tasteful.”

Moss’s return to the public eye reflects a powerful arc—from shock diagnosis, through grueling surgery and treatment, to a fully executive presence at a major restaurant launch. Fans and teammates alike have rallied around his story.

Now, as he gears up for his full‑time return to ESPN’s Countdown this fall, his appearance at Crisppi’s only underscores how far he’s come — stronger, cleaner, in control. For Moss, every fried tender served comes with a side of hope, resilience, and the promise that life—and chicken—can be both sweet and triumphant.
