“Nottingham Forest Close In on Arsenal’s Eddie Nketiah as Star Striker Deal Looms”
Nottingham Forest have already brought in eight new players for a combined cost of over £70 million. Now, they aim to complete a successful transfer window by signing a star striker for Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad.
The club has shown interest in Santiago Gimenez, but their recent offer for the Feyenoord forward was turned down, with the Dutch club seeking a record fee of around £30 million. Although discussions for Gimenez continue, Forest have also lined up other options and reached a personal agreement with Eddie Nketiah.
As Arsenal look to offload players before the transfer window closes and prepare for Mikel Merino’s arrival at The Emirates, Nottingham Forest have identified Nketiah as their primary target.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Forest now favor Nketiah as their top striker option. He mentioned that Forest’s bid for Gimenez, worth €26 million plus add-ons, was rejected, and while they remain interested in the Feyenoord player, Nketiah is currently their preferred choice.
With limited chances at Arsenal, Nketiah is set to make a move this summer, staying in the Premier League. Forest, having built a strong attacking core with Callum Hudson-Odoi, Morgan Gibbs-White, and Anthony Elanga, have lacked a true striker. Nketiah will now have the chance to lead Forest’s attack, though he will compete with Taiwo Awoniyi for the position.
