BREAKING NEWS: Former Rangers midfielder and Wrexham-born talent Tom Lawrence has officially signed a new three-year contract extension with Championship side Wrexham AFC
Wrexham AFC have confirmed that former Rangers midfielder Tom Lawrence has put pen to paper on a new three-year contract extension, committing his future to the club until 2028.
The 30-year-old, who was born and raised in Wrexham, makes a highly-anticipated return to his hometown club after spending the last two seasons in the Scottish Premiership with Rangers FC.
Lawrence’s time at Ibrox was hampered by injury, but when fit, he showcased his creativity and leadership in midfield. His return to Wrexham marks a major coup for the ambitious Welsh side as they prepare for life in the Championship following back-to-back promotions under the ownership of Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.

Speaking after signing the deal, Lawrence said:
“It feels incredible to come back home. Wrexham is where my football journey started, and to have the chance to represent this club now, at this level, is something I’m very proud of. I can’t wait to get started and help the team push even further.”
Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson also expressed his delight at the signing:
“Tom brings proven quality and Championship experience to our midfield. He’s a local lad who understands what this club means to the community. We’re thrilled to have him on board for the next three years.”
The deal signals Wrexham’s intent to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season, as they aim to compete strongly in the Championship following their remarkable rise through the English football pyramid.
Lawrence will join up with his new teammates for pre-season training next week, with fans already buzzing over the prospect of seeing one of their own don the Wrexham shirt once again.
