“Rangers’ Transfer Drama: Cyriel Dessers Turns Down $6M MLS Move Amid New Targets”
It is widely known that Rangers need to sell players before making any new signings. However, one player has reportedly rejected an opportunity to leave. According to reports, Rangers accepted a $6 million (£5.1 million) offer from Atlanta United for Cyriel Dessers, but the Nigerian striker declined the move to MLS. International transfer reporter Luca Bendoni indicated that an agreement between the clubs was nearly finalized, but Dessers turned down the transfer after negotiations. Atlanta, who recently sold former Celtic striker Giorgos Giakoumakis, had hoped Dessers could be his replacement.
On the incoming side, Rangers are now being linked to several players. Earlier reports mentioned an inquiry sent to Fiorentina for winger Josip Brekalo. The Croatian international, who was recently on loan at Hajduk Split, is now available for a permanent move from the Italian club.
Additionally, Rangers have reportedly entered discussions with Benfica regarding winger Tiago Gouveia, as they consider a potential deal. Gouveia, who came off the bench against Rangers in both legs of last season’s Europa League, is now available for offers, though Villarreal and Anderlecht are also interested, meaning Rangers could face competition.
Domagoj Bradaric, Salernitana’s left-back, has also been mentioned as a target, but Rangers may face stiff competition to secure his services. The Scottish club is reportedly exploring a loan deal with an option to buy, though Salernitana would prefer an obligation. Other clubs, including Cagliari, AEK Athens, Real Valladolid, and Parma, are also reportedly preparing offers.
Meanwhile, Gustavo Puerta, who was previously linked with Rangers, appears to be on the verge of leaving Bayer Leverkusen for a loan move to Hull City.
