“Kyrie Irving’s Comeback Journey: Mavs Star Eyes Return Ahead of Training Camp”

After undergoing hand surgery in July, Kyrie Irving of the Dallas Mavericks is currently engaged in limited activities and is expected to be cleared for the start of training camp in Las Vegas on October 1, according to Marc Stein of The Stein Line. Additionally, Sources indicate that Irving is on track for full clearance by the start of camp, but has not yet been approved for full 5-on-5 play.

Irving, an eight-time All-Star, was recently seen at a voluntary team workout but is still recovering from his injury. Despite a strong regular season performance in 2023-24, where he averaged 25.6 points, 5.2 assists, and 1.3 steals per game, Irving struggled in the 2024 NBA Finals, with shooting percentages significantly dropping, particularly on open shots. Now, he must not only recover from his broken hand but also face stronger competition from several improved Western Conference teams, including the Thunder, Kings, and Pelicans.

Meanwhile, Klay Thompson is actively integrating himself with his new team. The four-time NBA champion and standout shooter is working to build on-court chemistry with the Mavericks, which is essential as he transitions from his long tenure with the Golden State Warriors. With Irving out until training camp and Luka Doncic possibly away in Slovenia, Thompson’s early involvement is a promising development for Dallas.
