⚠️ “Observe Sancho and Núñez”: Frank Leboeuf Warns Arsenal About Overspending on Benjamin Šeško
As transfer rumors continue to link RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Šeško with a big-money move to Arsenal, former Chelsea defender and football pundit Frank Leboeuf has issued a strong warning to the Gunners: “Be careful not to repeat past mistakes.”
Speaking on a recent football panel, Leboeuf referenced the examples of Jadon Sancho and Darwin Núñez — two high-profile forwards whose massive price tags haven’t translated into consistent performances in the Premier League.
> “Look at Sancho at Manchester United and Núñez at Liverpool,” Leboeuf said. “Talented players, no doubt, but the pressure of a huge transfer fee has made things harder. Arsenal should think twice before throwing £50–60 million at Šeško.”
Šeško, 21, has impressed with his physical presence, finishing ability, and movement in the Bundesliga — but Leboeuf believes the Premier League is a different beast.
> “You need more than raw talent to succeed in England. It’s about mentality, consistency, and adapting fast.”
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is reportedly looking for a new striker to lead the line in 2025, with Gabriel Jesus struggling for fitness and Kai Havertz still adjusting to the role. Šeško has emerged as a key target, but some believe the hype could inflate his price beyond a justifiable level.
Leboeuf’s comments have sparked debate among fans, with some agreeing that Arsenal should be cautious, while others believe the Gunners must take a risk if they want to keep up with City and Liverpool.
For now, Arsenal’s next move remains uncertain — but the pressure is clearly on to get this summer’s striker signing right.
