“Roma in Turmoil: Dybala’s Future in Doubt as Saudi Giants Make Bold Move”
Recent rumors about Paulo Dybala potentially joining the Saudi Pro League have stirred controversy at Roma, especially after he only played 15 minutes off the bench in a friendly against Everton. PIF, which owns several clubs, has reportedly offered him a lucrative two-year deal, with Al-Qadsiah being a possible destination. However, according to Il Messaggero, Dybala has so far declined the offer, partly because his wife Oriana is reluctant to leave Italy.
Corriere della Sera, via OneFootball, suggests that Dybala’s stance on the matter isn’t as firm as before. Roma could benefit financially from his departure, along with Tammy Abraham’s sale, potentially allowing them to strengthen their squad before the transfer window closes.
Roma have identified Edon Zhegrova as a potential replacement if Dybala leaves. Zhegrova, who has already been on their radar earlier in the summer, was passed over in favor of Matias Soulé. He has contributed 19 goals and 16 assists in 87 appearances for Lille.
When asked about the situation, coach Daniele De Rossi told LaRoma24 that his decisions weren’t influenced by the rumors. He emphasized that the lineup he fielded was his choice and that the start of the league is approaching, so he’s focusing on preparing for official matches. He also stated that while everyone currently with the team is considered a Roma player, those who want to leave are free to do so. De Rossi added that Dybala and Soulé could both fit into the lineup, either in a 4-2-3-1 formation with Dybala as a false-nine or in a 4-3-2-1 behind the striker.
