Oklahoma Dominates Regional, Awaits Winner of Weather-Delayed Tuscaloosa Final
The Oklahoma Sooners have left no doubt about their championship pedigree this postseason. In their latest show of dominance, they swept through their regional with commanding performances both at the plate and on the mound, outscoring their opponents 31-3 over three games. With their latest victory, the Sooners are now one step closer to another trip to the Women’s College World Series.

In their final game of the Norman Regional, Oklahoma made quick work of California, relying once again on stellar pitching and timely hitting. Pitchers Kierston Deal, Nicole May, and most recently Paytn Monticelli and Olivia Smith combined to stifle opposing lineups throughout the weekend. Against Cal, Smith and Monticelli delivered a suffocating performance, giving the Bears little opportunity to gain momentum. The Sooners’ bullpen has been nearly untouchable this postseason, and that trend continued as they closed out the regional with a statement win.
Oklahoma’s offense, which has long been one of the most feared in the nation, showcased its depth and firepower. From home runs to key situational hitting, the Sooners never let up, keeping constant pressure on opposing pitchers and defenses. Their ability to strike early and often has made them nearly impossible to chase down once they gain a lead.
With the Norman Regional title in hand, Oklahoma now turns its attention to the winner of the Tuscaloosa Regional, where Alabama and Virginia Tech are battling it out for the right to advance. However, the final in Tuscaloosa was placed in a weather delay, leaving the Sooners temporarily without a confirmed Super Regional opponent. Alabama, undefeated in the regional so far, needs just one more win to clinch. Virginia Tech faces a much tougher road—needing back-to-back wins over the Crimson Tide to pull off the upset.
Regardless of who emerges, Oklahoma will host the Super Regional in Norman, where they have been nearly unbeatable. The Sooners are seeking their fourth consecutive national title, and their dominant play so far indicates they are well-positioned to achieve it.
As the college softball world awaits the conclusion of the Tuscaloosa Regional, one thing is clear: Oklahoma looks every bit like the team to beat. With elite pitching, relentless offense, and the experience of a championship program, the Sooners have set the tone for the postseason—and they’re not done yet.
