NFL super star, Patrick Mahomes donates $10 million to launch NIL fund for Texas Tech Athletes.
Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has reaffirmed his dedication to his alma mater, Texas Tech University, with a generous $5 million donation aimed at enhancing the university’s athletic facilities. This contribution supports the $242 million South End Zone and Dustin R. Womble Football Center project, marking the largest facility investment in the school’s history.
In recognition of Mahomes’ significant support, Texas Tech will name key areas within the new facilities after him, including the walkthrough area, the quarterback meeting room, and the offensive coordinator’s office. Athletic Director Kirby Hocutt expressed immense pride in Mahomes’ ongoing commitment, stating, “We couldn’t be prouder to announce this gift from Patrick and Brittany Mahomes. We are so proud of Patrick for all he has accomplished and how he has continually supported Texas Tech on … ”
Beyond infrastructure, Mahomes is also making strides in athlete empowerment through the launch of “Team Mahomes,” an initiative in partnership with Adidas. This program has signed six Texas Tech student-athletes to Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) deals, providing them with opportunities to participate in brand marketing campaigns, including promotions for Mahomes’ signature Adidas line.

Mahomes personally welcomed these athletes during a surprise visit to the campus, presenting them with customized gear and expressing his enthusiasm for the program. “The energy around this partnership has been incredible, and this announcement shows just how important this is to me, Adidas, and Texas Tech,” Mahomes remarked.
