BYU Officially Announces Addition of Baylor Transfer Robert Wright III

Provo, Utah โ BYU basketball made a major splash in the transfer portal Monday, officially announcing the addition of former Baylor standout Robert Wright III. The dynamic point guard, considered one of the top players available in this yearโs portal, brings elite playmaking and leadership to the Cougars for the 2025-26 season.
Wright, who completed his visit to Provo this past weekend, is a significant pickup for head coach Kevin Youngโs squad, especially with the recent departure of freshman phenom Egor Demin to the NBA Draft.

Wright himself took to social media following the announcement, tweeting, โLetโs Work #AGTG (All Glory To God),โ signaling his readiness to get to work in Provo.
The 6-foot-1, 183-pound guard averaged 11.5 points, 4.2 assists, 2.0 rebounds, and 1.0 steals during his freshman season at Baylor, earning Honorable Mention All-Big 12 and All-Freshman Team honors. His standout year helped solidify his ranking as the No. 8 overall transfer in the 2025 cycle by 247Sports.
Wright is no stranger to high-level competition. Prior to college, he starred at powerhouse Montverde Academy, helping lead the program to a flawless 33-0 season alongside top NBA prospect Cooper Flagg.
Interestingly, Wrightโs breakout game last season came against none other than BYU. On January 28, he dropped 22 points and recorded six assists against the Cougars, giving BYU fans a firsthand look at what heโs capable of.
He joins a BYU team poised for an exciting season, featuring incoming five-star freshman AJ Dybantsa and potentially the return of veteran guard Richie Saunders, who has yet to declare whether heโll return or pursue professional opportunities.
With the addition of Wright, BYU instantly adds a proven leader to its backcourt and solidifies itself as a contender in the new-look Big 12. Cougar Nation has plenty to be excited about as the Kevin Young era picks up steam.
