“Brighton Overhauls Boardroom and Eyes Fresh Start Under New Manager”

Brighton have officially announced the appointment of two new non-executive directors at the Amex Stadium, according to sources reported by Football Insider. On August 8, Companies House filings confirmed that Anna Jones and Paul Brown have joined the club’s board.

Jones, who was named the first female CEO of The Telegraph Media Group earlier this year, brings experience from the consumer, media, technology, and entertainment industries. Brown is the current CEO of Swiss music rights firm MusicBird and has over 25 years of commercial leadership experience with Sony Music, Spotify, HTC, and Disney.

This board change follows the departure of long-serving directors Derek Chapman and Marc Sugarman, who had been with Brighton for many years. Their exit represents the first board changes in eight years.

With these new appointments, Brighton’s board now consists of 11 members, including owner Tony Bloom, CEO Paul Barber, COO Paul Mullen, and finance director Lee Cooper, along with non-executive directors Ray Bloom, Robert Comer, Adam Franks, Peter Godfrey, and Michelle Walder.

Under Tony Bloom’s ownership since 2009, Brighton has seen significant success, including two promotions and Premier League football since 2017. The club qualified for European competition for the first time in the 2022-23 season and finished 11th under Roberto De Zerbi last season. With De Zerbi’s departure, Fabian Hurzeler, who recently led St Pauli to Bundesliga promotion, has been appointed as the new manager. Despite Pascal Gross’s move to Borussia Dortmund, Brighton has made several new signings, including Yankuba Minteh, Mats Wieffer, Ibrahim Osman, Malick Yalcouye, and Amario Cozier-Duberry. Hurzeler will oversee his first competitive match against Everton on August 17.
