Dallas Mavericks Make Official Decision on Kyrie Irving Ahead of Wednesday’s Game Against the Kings

Dallas, TX – April 14, 2025 — The Dallas Mavericks have officially confirmed that star guard Kyrie Irving will be available for Wednesday’s critical play-in game against the Sacramento Kings, putting to rest growing concerns about his ankle that sidelined him in the regular season finale.

Irving, who missed the last two games due to what the team called “precautionary rest and minor ankle soreness,” was a full participant in Monday’s practice and looked “sharp and locked in,” according to head coach Jason Kidd.

“This is what he lives for,” Kidd said. “Kyrie’s a big-game player, and having him ready is huge for us. He brings poise, scoring, and leadership — all things we’ll need in a high-pressure matchup like this.”

The Mavericks, who finished the season as the 9th seed in the West, face a do-or-die scenario against the 10th-seeded Kings. The winner will move on to face the loser of the Warriors-Grizzlies matchup for a shot at the final playoff spot.

Irving has averaged 23.8 points, 5.1 assists, and 3.9 rebounds this season while forming a strong backcourt tandem with Tim Hardaway Jr. Since Luka Dončić’s blockbuster trade to the Lakers in February, Irving has stepped into the leadership role seamlessly, guiding the Mavericks through a turbulent second half of the season.

Fans and analysts alike will be watching closely to see how the veteran guard performs under the playoff lights once again.

Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 PM PDT on Wednesday, April 16, at Golden 1 Center in Sacramento.
