Seaside Slides: Carnival to Build Enormous Water Parks for Upcoming Megaships

Carnival Cruise Line is making waves in the cruise industry with plans to build expansive water parks aboard its two upcoming megaships, promising a new era of onboard entertainment. These floating aqua-adventures are set to redefine family fun at sea, with one of the new vessels scheduled to set sail from Port Canaveral.

As part of Carnival’s ongoing investment in innovative guest experiences, the new water parks will feature multi-story slides, splash zones, and interactive aquatic play areas, tailored for all ages. Each megaship will host a water park that rivals land-based attractions, boasting high-thrill water slides, inner-tube rides, and wave pools designed to provide guests with unforgettable thrills at sea.

The first of the two megaships, currently under construction at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland, is slated for launch in 2026. Carnival has confirmed that this ship will homeport at Port Canaveral, Florida, one of the cruise line’s most popular and busiest departure points. With its central location and easy access to major attractions, Port Canaveral is poised to welcome an influx of cruise-goers excited for this next-generation ship.

The second megaship is expected to follow shortly after, featuring a similar water park layout and a focus on eco-efficiency, modern luxury, and family-friendly entertainment. Both ships are part of Carnival’s Excel-class fleet, known for pushing the envelope with features like roller coasters at sea, expansive dining options, and immersive experiences.

Christine Duffy, President of Carnival Cruise Line, highlighted the importance of innovation in the company’s vision: “We’re constantly looking to raise the bar for family fun. These new water parks are going to be bigger, better, and bolder than anything we’ve ever done. It’s not just about slides—it’s about creating an atmosphere of joy and adventure for all generations.”

In addition to the water attractions, each megaship will include dedicated zones for kids, teens, and adults, ensuring that the aquatic fun complements a full range of onboard activities. The announcement has generated buzz among cruise enthusiasts, many of whom are already planning future vacations around the new launches.

With the combination of thrilling water features and Carnival’s trademark energy, the upcoming megaships are set to make a splash—both literally and figuratively—in the world of cruising. As Port Canaveral prepares to welcome the first of these floating water parks, anticipation is rising for what promises to be one of the most exciting chapters in Carnival’s storied history.
