In a strategic move to enhance their defensive front, the New England Patriots have signed former Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Milton Williams to a four-year, $104 million contract, averaging $26 million annually. This acquisition aims to bolster the Patriots’ pass rush, which was among the least effective in the NFL during the 2024 season.
Williams, 25, had an impressive 2024 season with the Eagles, recording 31 tackles, seven sacks, and two forced fumbles, contributing significantly to Philadelphia’s Super Bowl LIX victory. His disruptive playstyle and versatility are expected to strengthen the Patriots’ defensive line, complementing like Keion White.
In a corresponding move, the Patriots have also signed edge rusher Harold Landry to a three-year, $43.5 million contract, including $26 million guaranteed. Landry, a former Pro Bowler, reunites with Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel, under whom he previously played in Tennessee. His addition is anticipated to further enhance the team’s pass-rushing capabilities.
These strategic signings reflect the Patriots’ commitment to revitalizing their defense for the upcoming season, addressing previous shortcomings, and aiming for a more formidable presence on the field.
