Exposed: A new avenue for West Ham to exploit Everton.

Football Insider has been informed by insiders that West Ham could make a low-ball move for Dominic Calvert-Lewin, a standout player for Everton. The 27-year-old is a target for the Irons, but Everton’s demands have deterred them.

In a surprising development, though, Football Insider reported on Monday, July 22, that because of the collapse of their takeover, the Merseysiders could now have to entertain offers for their star striker. Calvert-Lewin has a remaining contract, and Everton is desperate to keep him from leaving the team for free the following season.

With less than a year to go until the England international’s contract expires, a takeover would have allowed Everton to extend it. West Ham might profit from the uncertainty surrounding Everton’s purchase. According to sources, there is now a chance that the England international will leave this summer.

Earlier in the transfer season, Newcastle United was also interested in the striker, but they gave up after they were unable to reach an agreement with Everton. Last month (June 24), sources told Football Insider that Calvert-Lewin told Everton he wanted to join Newcastle during the talks for a move.

West Ham, which struggled in front of goal in the 2023–24 season, is in dire need of a striker. At the London Stadium, Michail Antonio and Danny Ings are now under contract, but the team has not yet found a long-term replacement for high-profile failure Gianluca Scamacca.
