BREAKING NEWS: Steelers Set to Acquire Another Highly-rated QB Prospect in 2025 Draft

Tyler Shough Emerging as a Top Quarterback Prospect in 2025 NFL Draft

As the 2025 NFL Draft process unfolds, the quarterback landscape is beginning to take shape. Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders are widely regarded as the top two quarterback prospects expected to be selected in the first round. However, beyond those two, the rest of the quarterback class remains unpredictable, leaving ample room for movement before the draft in April.

Tyler Shough Senior Bowl Interview: Personal Growth Equals Success

One team that may be in the market for a quarterback is the Pittsburgh Steelers. While the Steelers aren’t necessarily expected to use their first-round pick on a signal-caller, they could look to add depth at the position later in the draft. The question remains: Who will emerge as the third-best quarterback prospect behind Ward and Sanders?

One name rising through the ranks is Louisville’s Tyler Shough. At the Senior Bowl, Shough turned heads with an impressive performance, garnering praise from scouts and analysts alike. His strong showing has placed him firmly in the discussion as a legitimate candidate to be the third quarterback selected.

The Athletic’s Dane Brugler ranked Shough as the fourth-best quarterback in this class, just behind Ole Miss’s Jaxson Dart. However, Brugler noted that Shough is a “fast-rising candidate” and a potential dark horse to be the third quarterback off the board. His tools, arm strength, and decision-making ability have impressed many within the draft community.

Former ESPN draft analyst Todd McShay also spoke highly of Shough, labeling him as a “top four quarterback” in this year’s class. This sentiment suggests that NFL teams may be viewing Shough even more favorably than the public draft consensus currently indicates. With his stock trending upward, Shough has a legitimate chance to separate himself from the pack and solidify his status as a high-end quarterback prospect.

For teams like the Steelers that may be targeting a quarterback outside of the first round, other names such as Jaxson Dart, Alabama’s Jalen Milroe, and Ohio State’s Will Howard will be considered. However, Shough’s recent rise makes him an intriguing option, and he could continue to climb draft boards leading up to April.

As the draft process progresses, all eyes will be on Shough to see if he can maintain his momentum and establish himself as the third-best quarterback prospect in the 2025 NFL Draft.
