UPDATE: New England Patriots officially announce 2025 coordinators under new head coach Mike Vrabel

The New England Patriots have officially announced their coaching staff for the 2025 season under new head coach Mike Vrabel. The appointments include the return of Josh McDaniels as offensive coordinator, the hiring of Terrell Williams as defensive coordinator, and the retention of Jeremy Springer as special teams coordinator.

Josh McDaniels – Offensive Coordinator

Josh McDaniels rejoins the Patriots for his third tenure as offensive coordinator. His previous stints from 2006 to 2008 and 2012 to 2021 were marked by significant success, including six Super Bowl victories. McDaniels was instrumental in developing quarterbacks, notably guiding Mac Jones to a Pro Bowl appearance and a spot on the PFWA All-Rookie team in 2021. His return is anticipated to foster the growth of rookie quarterback Drake Maye, aiming to replicate the mentorship that benefited Tom Brady during McDaniels’ earlier tenure.

Terrell Williams – Defensive Coordinator

Terrell Williams steps in as the new defensive coordinator, bringing a wealth of experience from his recent role as the Detroit Lions’ defensive line coach and run game coordinator. Williams has a history with Vrabel, having spent six seasons together with the Tennessee Titans, where Williams served as the defensive line coach from 2018 to 2022 and assistant head coach in 2023. His expertise is expected to enhance the Patriots’ defensive strategies in the upcoming season.

Jeremy Springer – Special Teams Coordinator

Jeremy Springer will continue as the special teams coordinator, a position he has held with notable success. Under his guidance, the Patriots’ special teams unit has consistently performed at a high level, contributing significantly to the team’s overall competitiveness. Springer’s retention ensures continuity and stability in this critical aspect of the game.

These strategic coaching appointments reflect Mike Vrabel’s commitment to leveraging experienced and familiar talent to rejuvenate the Patriots after a challenging 4-13 season. The organization is poised to rebuild and aims to return to its winning ways in the 2025 season.
