MASSIVE BLOW: Seattle Seahawks Faces Massive Setback As WR DK Metcalf After Suspension Is Fined $30, 000 Due To Disagreement With Referee
Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf has faced multiple fines for unsportsmanlike conduct and unnecessary roughness over the past two seasons. In September 2023, he was fined $10,927 for a late-game hit on Rams defensive back Akhello Witherspoon.
In October 2024, Metcalf received a fine of $11,255 for an uncalled roughness penalty during a game against the New York Giants.
Additionally, Metcalf was fined $19,123 for unsportsmanlike conduct in a separate incident.
In response to these fines, Metcalf has adopted a new approach to avoid penalties. He began using American Sign Language (ASL) to communicate his celebrations and taunts during games. For instance, after scoring a 73-yard touchdown against the Dallas Cowboys, he signed “Stand on business” to the Dallas fans. This method allows him to express himself without violating league rules against excessive celebration or unsportsmanlike conduct.
Despite these challenges, Metcalf continues to be a key player for the Seahawks, contributing significantly to their offensive efforts.
