“Cabaye Confident in Howe’s Ability to Propel Newcastle Back to European Glory”
Former Newcastle United star Yohan Cabaye believes that Eddie Howe is fully capable of guiding the Magpies back to the Champions League.
Despite Howe’s failure to achieve this last season, as well as missing out on a Europa Conference League spot due to Manchester United’s FA Cup victory, Cabaye has faith in Howe’s abilities. He witnessed Howe’s strategic prowess during Newcastle’s impressive performance against Paris St-Germain in last season’s competition.
In an exclusive interview with Ladbrokes 1-2-Free, Cabaye expressed his confidence in Howe: “Is Eddie Howe under pressure? I’m not sure. However, I firmly believe he is a top-quality manager who can lead Newcastle to Champions League football once more.
Howe has the necessary skills, experience, and knowledge of the league. Although fans might be disappointed with finishing seventh, it could have been worse. The aim for the upcoming season is to secure a spot in Europe, as consistent European football enhances a team’s experience and confidence. It’s crucial for Newcastle to compete for European places every year.
In my opinion, last season wasn’t bad at all. It’s important to remember that not long ago, Newcastle were in the Championship. Even with new owners and improved conditions behind the scenes, success doesn’t happen overnight.
We’ve been on a long journey, and we’re still on it. We’re building towards something significant. Achieving success requires careful planning and recruitment. Even with unlimited funds, trophies aren’t guaranteed.
“You need to select the right people, for the right positions, with the right mentality, at the right time. I think the club has done well in recent transfer windows, bringing in players who will develop and strengthen the team.
“I’m not one to specify where the team needs improvement, as I don’t want to disrespect the club. I have immense respect and affection for Newcastle, and I’m confident they’ll make smart decisions in bringing the right players this summer.”
The former France international, Yohan Cabaye, sympathized with Howe and Newcastle for their performance last season, understanding why the club dropped from fourth to seventh place.
Cabaye commented, “I think Newcastle struggled a bit last season due to a lack of squad depth. It’s incredibly challenging to play Champions League football while also competing in the Premier League with the goal of qualifying for Europe again. You need a deep roster of players to maximize your chances of achieving your goals.
“The Premier League is the toughest league in the world; every week, you face well-prepared teams with incredible players across the pitch. That’s what makes it the best league in the world.”
