As the NFL trade deadline approaches on November 4, speculation continues to grow around potential moves involving big-name players — especially from struggling teams. The New Orleans Saints, currently sitting at 1-4 ahead of their Week 6 matchup against the New England Patriots, have naturally drawn interest from several teams across the league. One of the main subjects of those inquiries has been veteran running back Alvin Kamara.
Despite the Saints’ disappointing start to the season, Kamara is not expected to be on the move. League sources indicate that the five-time Pro Bowl back has expressed a clear desire to remain with the Saints for the remainder of his career.
Kamara reportedly met with Saints general manager Mickey Loomis recently and reaffirmed his commitment to the organization. According to sources familiar with the discussion, Kamara told Loomis that his intent remains the same as it was last October, when he signed a two-year, $24.5 million contract extension to stay in New Orleans.
His contract currently runs through the 2026 season, giving the team some flexibility as they attempt to navigate what has turned into a challenging period. The Saints are clearly in a state of transition, and with several veterans on the roster and younger players waiting in the wings, trade speculation has become inevitable.
Still, Kamara’s leadership and value to the franchise go well beyond his performance on the field. The 28-year-old remains a vocal presence in the locker room and continues to be one of the most versatile and dangerous offensive weapons in the NFL when healthy. Through five games in 2025, he has totaled 412 yards from scrimmage and three touchdowns — despite working behind a banged-up offensive line and inconsistent quarterback play.
For now, the Saints appear content to hold on to Kamara, barring a surprise blockbuster offer. The franchise understands the value of maintaining key veteran leadership amid a potential retooling phase. Kamara’s loyalty and stated desire to remain in New Orleans only further solidify his place within the organization.
That said, there will be key decisions to make in the offseason. Kamara will be 30 by the start of the 2026 campaign, and sources say he plans to evaluate his future in the NFL after the current season ends. Retirement isn’t off the table, depending on how his body feels and where the Saints stand as a team.
For now, though, Kamara’s message is clear: he’s committed to the Saints, and he wants to help right the ship — not jump off it.
Whether or not New Orleans ultimately entertains any serious trade talks remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: Kamara isn’t asking out.
