BREAKING: Cornerback Nahshon Wright Reply To Ben Johnson Heat Concerning Physical Practice
Coach Ben Johnson made his expectations clear during Tuesday morningโs team meeting, setting the stage for what turned out to be the Bears’ most hard-hitting training camp session in recent memory.
“He told us right away that today needed to be physical,” said cornerback Nahshon Wright. “Coach wants toughness to define us. Thatโs going to be our identity.”
The energy level spiked with the introduction of full-contact drills, resulting in intense hits, spirited trash talk, and a few heated altercations.
Wright noted that only one live segment was originally planned, but the physical nature of that portion ignited the entire teamโespecially with a focus on running plays.
“When you hear it’s live, something clicks,” Wright explained. “Itโs hard to tone it down after that, so the whole practice basically turned into a live session.”
Cornerback Tyrique Stevenson agreed, saying, “Thatโs the standard we should practice at daily. Thatโs the message we got from the coaches and each otherโwe need that every day if we want to be a championship-caliber team on both sides of the ball.”
Earlier that day, Johnson had already teased the intensity to come while speaking to the media, saying: “Todayโs going to be a tough, physical practice. Itโs a big one for us, and I expect to see a lot from our guys.”
