The New York Yankees have struggled recently, going 4-6 in their last 10 games and trailing the Boston Red Sox by 1.5 games for second place in the AL East. On a four-game losing streak, the Yankees are set to get a boost as a key player returns to action Tuesday night against the Texas Rangers.

Multiple reports confirm that the Yankees have reinstated star slugger Aaron Judge from the 10-day injured list amid several roster changes. Judge, who had been sidelined since July 27 with a right flexor strain, will take over as the team’s designated hitter, while Giancarlo Stanton shifts to right field.

Prior to his injury, Judge was among the top contenders for the American League MVP, boasting a .342 batting average, 37 home runs, and 85 RBIs over 103 games. The seven-time All-Star rejoins a Yankees team that was busy at the trade deadline and has recently drawn criticism from fans for lackluster defense.

In a conversation with MLB.com’s Dave Sessions, manager Aaron Boone expressed cautious optimism about when Judge might return to the outfield.

“We’ll see when we get back home [on Friday against the Astros],” Boone said, via Sessions. “He’s currently going through his treatment process — he did plyometrics today, and will begin playing catch soon. His arm will ultimately determine when he’s ready.”
