Dolphins Lock Down Star DT Zach Sieler Through 2029
MIAMI GARDENS, FL — August 4, 2025
The Miami Dolphins are doubling down on their defensive dominance. In a major move to anchor their defensive line for years to come, the team has signed defensive tackle Zach Sieler to a multi-year contract extension through the 2029 NFL season.
Affectionately nicknamed “Sack Sieler” by Dolphins fans for his relentless pressure on opposing quarterbacks, Sieler has become one of the most reliable and disruptive interior defenders in the NFL.
The extension comes as part of Miami’s continued effort to build a long-term championship-caliber roster around elite talent on both sides of the ball.
While the Dolphins have not officially released the full financial terms of the deal, sources close to the team indicate it is a lucrative extension that places Sieler among the highest-paid defensive tackles in the league. The contract reportedly includes substantial guarantees and performance incentives tied to sacks, tackles for loss, and Pro Bowl selections.
Sieler, 29, was originally a seventh-round pick by the Baltimore Ravens in 2018, but it was with Miami that he blossomed into a star. Claimed off waivers by the Dolphins in 2019, Sieler quickly became a fan favorite and a locker room leader due to his high motor, versatility, and nose for the football.
Over the past few seasons, he has developed into a cornerstone of Miami’s defense. In 2023, Sieler recorded a career-high 8.5 sacks, 15 tackles for loss, and 3 forced fumbles, helping the Dolphins reach the AFC Divisional Round.
In 2024, he followed it up with another strong campaign, leading all interior linemen on the team in quarterback pressures and playing a critical role in the run game.
Head coach Mike McDaniel praised Sieler in a press conference on Monday:
“Zach embodies everything we want in a Miami Dolphin. He’s a tireless worker, a leader, and a guy who sets the tone up front every single week. His growth over the past few years has been incredible, and we’re thrilled to keep him in aqua and orange for the long haul.”
Teammates also reacted positively to the news, with fellow defensive lineman Christian Wilkins posting on X: “Nobody deserves it more than Sieler. Let’s keep hunting.
The Dolphins’ front office, led by general manager Chris Grier, has been strategic in securing their defensive nucleus for the future. With Sieler locked in through 2029, the Dolphins have solidified one of the league’s most formidable defensive fronts.
As the 2025 season approaches, “Sack Sieler” will once again be at the heart of Miami’s pursuit of an AFC crown—this time with the long-term security to match his relentless impact on the field.
Fins up. Future locked. Sieler stays.
