Alison Ojeda Secures Contract Extension Through 2030
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee announced on July 17, 2025, that head women’s tennis coach Alison Ojeda has signed a contract extension keeping her at the helm through the 2030 season. The news was shared by Tennessee Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Danny White, who praised Ojeda’s leadership and the program’s trajectory under her guidance.
A standout alumna of the Lady Volunteers before stepping into coaching, Ojeda has amassed a striking 163–76 (.682) record over her nine seasons as Tennessee’s head coach . Under her leadership, the team has become a consistent NCAA title contender, with three Super Regional appearances, two Elite Eight berths, and one Final Four run in the past three years . Most notably, Tennessee finished the 2024 season ranked 12th nationally—their best mark since 2010—before climbing to No. 9 in 2025 .
Ojeda’s influence on the program has earned her numerous accolades. She is a four-time ITA Ohio Valley Region Head Coach of the Year, capturing the honor in four of the last six completed seasons, with national recognition as the Wilson ITA Head Coach of the Year in 2024 . Additionally, she was honored as the Southeastern Conference Co‑Coach of the Year in 2023 .
Beyond tournament success, Ojeda places strong emphasis on academic achievement and character development. Her squads have posted a perfect Graduation Success Rate throughout her tenure. The program has also earned the 2017 ITA Community Service Award; Tenika McGiffin was named SEC Scholar‑Athlete of the Year in 2022, and Esther Adeshina received the 2024 ITA Ann Lebedeff Leadership Award .
“I’m so grateful for the opportunities I’m constantly surrounded by on Rocky Top,” Ojeda remarked, expressing her gratitude to the university and her excitement for the program’s future. She praised the current roster, calling it “an amazing group of young women who give their all for Tennessee every day” .
Before returning to her alma mater, Ojeda compiled a 208–143 (.593) career record, including a successful five‑year stint at Middle Tennessee State .
Danny White emphasized that the program’s future “has never been brighter,” and said the university looks forward to Ojeda continuing to “lead the program for many years to come here on Rocky Top!” .
Ojeda’s extension represents more than a coaching contract—it’s a commitment to sustained excellence, both on the court and in the classroom.
