Breaking News: Rangers Complete Paperwork for Max Aarons Loan Deal
Glasgow, Scotland – July 5, 2025
Rangers Football Club have completed the formal paperwork and are on the verge of announcing the signing of one of the English Premier League’s most sought-after defenders, Max Aarons, on a season-long loan. The 25-year-old full-back, currently on the books at Bournemouth, is expected to undergo his medical in Glasgow later today before putting pen to paper.
Sources close to the deal suggest that Rangers beat off strong competition from several Championship clubs and a late push from a mid-table Serie A side to secure Aarons’ signature.
The move comes after intense negotiations over the past week, with the Ibrox side keen to reinforce their backline ahead of a crucial Champions League qualifying campaign and a renewed domestic title challenge.
Manager Philippe Clement had made no secret of his desire to bring in a top-quality right-back to provide balance and experience on the flanks, and Aarons fits the bill perfectly.
Known for his blistering pace, attacking intent, and defensive solidity, the England U21 international brings top-flight pedigree to the Scottish Premiership.
“Max is a player we’ve admired for a long time,” a Rangers club insider told Sky Sports Scotland. “He’s quick, technically strong, and has the mentality we look for in a Rangers player. His experience in the Premier League will be invaluable, and we believe he can make a real difference to our squad.”
The loan deal reportedly includes a significant contribution to Aarons’ wages from Bournemouth, as well as an option to buy at the end of the season—believed to be in the region of £6 million.
It marks a statement of intent from Rangers, who have been active in the transfer market this summer, also securing the likes of striker Kevin Denkey and midfielder Mohamed Diomandé.
Max Aarons, who rose to prominence at Norwich City before securing a move to Bournemouth in 2023, has seen limited game time in the past season due to a combination of injury setbacks and managerial changes. However, he remains highly rated and is eager to reignite his career north of the border.
“I’m just excited to get started,” Aarons said briefly at Glasgow Airport, where he was greeted by a small group of fans and club representatives. “Rangers is a massive club, and the opportunity to play in front of 50,000 fans every week is something you can’t turn down.”
If all goes to plan, Aarons will join up with the Rangers squad in their pre-season training camp in Germany later this week. An official club announcement is expected within the next 24 hours.
