Issame Charai Breaks Silence on Respectful Rangers Exit
Issame Charai has spoken out for the first time following his departure from Rangers, describing the process as “respectful” and full of mutual understanding. The highly-regarded coach, who served as an assistant at Ibrox, reflected on his time with the Scottish giants and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to work at one of the UK’s most historic clubs.
Charai had been part of the backroom team under former manager Philippe Clement, but his exit was confirmed amid a reshuffling of staff ahead of the new campaign. Speaking after his departure, Charai was quick to emphasise that the parting of ways was amicable and handled with professionalism on both sides.
“There was a lot of respect between us,” Charai stated. “I leave Rangers with my head held high, knowing I gave everything I had to support the team and the project we were building. Sometimes in football, decisions are made that are part of the evolution of a club. I accept that and move forward with no regrets.”
During his tenure, Charai was praised for his tactical insight and man-management skills. He played a key role in player development and match preparation, often working closely with young talents as well as first-team regulars. His input behind the scenes was seen as valuable during what was a challenging but transitional phase for Rangers.
Although the club did not achieve all of its objectives last season, Charai remains proud of the progress made during his spell at Ibrox. He spoke warmly about the fans, the club’s culture, and the experience of being part of such a passionate footballing environment.
“The supporters were incredible, and I always felt the energy they brought to the team. It’s something I’ll never forget,” he added. “Glasgow is a special place for football, and I was lucky to be part of that.”
As Charai looks ahead to his next chapter, he’s not short of options. The Belgian-born coach has built a strong reputation across Europe and is expected to attract interest from clubs keen to benefit from his experience and modern approach to coaching.
In the meantime, he departs Rangers on good terms, with words of appreciation rather than bitterness. “I wish the club nothing but success moving forward,” Charai concluded. “It was an honour to be part of Rangers Football Club.”
