“Deal Agreed” – Fabrizio Romano Confirms Newcastle United Set to Sign Rangers Starlet Alfie Hutchison
Renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that an agreement is in place for Newcastle United to sign promising Rangers striker Alfie Hutchison. The highly rated youngster is now on the verge of completing a move to the English Premier League side, with all parties reportedly finalising the final details ahead of a July 1 switch.
Romano broke the news via social media, stating that Newcastle have reached a full agreement with Rangers to secure the teenager’s signature. The deal comes after weeks of negotiations, with Hutchison having also completed a medical as part of the transfer process. The forward will officially become a Magpies player at the start of next month, when the summer transfer window formally opens.

Alfie Hutchison, 16, has been regarded as one of the brightest attacking prospects in the Rangers academy. His eye for goal, technical skill, and intelligent movement off the ball have caught the attention of clubs across the UK. Newcastle, eager to bolster their youth ranks with elite-level talent, have made a clear statement of intent by snapping up the young striker before rivals could make a move.
While Hutchison is unlikely to feature in the first team immediately, he is expected to join Newcastle’s U18 setup with a long-term development plan in mind. The Magpies continue to invest significantly in youth recruitment and infrastructure as part of their strategy to build a sustainable future pipeline of talent capable of competing at the highest level.
For Rangers, the departure of Hutchison is another reminder of the challenge Scottish clubs face in retaining top prospects amid growing interest from wealthy English sides. However, the Ibrox outfit will receive a compensation fee in line with FIFA regulations, as the transfer involves a youth player moving across borders.
Although the fee may be modest compared to senior transfers, Rangers remain committed to strengthening their academy system and ensuring the next generation of talent can be developed and, where possible, retained.
Hutchison’s move follows a growing trend of young Scottish players heading south at an early stage, enticed by the facilities, coaching, and competition offered in England. For Newcastle, this signing is another step in building a future-focused squad—one that could soon benefit from the attacking talents of Alfie Hutchison.
As Romano put it: “Agreement in place. Done deal. Hutchison will be a Newcastle player.”
