CONFIRMED: Southampton defender Kyle Walker-Peters has signed a four-year deal with Wolves, sealing his move to Molineux as the successor to Nelson Semedo, whose exit signals a major shift in the club’s defensive setup and summer transfer strategy.
Wolverhampton Wanderers have officially confirmed the signing of Kyle Walker-Peters from Southampton on a four-year contract, bringing an end to weeks of speculation surrounding the 27-year-old’s future. The deal is believed to be worth around £15 million, with personal terms swiftly agreed following interest from multiple Premier League clubs.
Walker-Peters, who joined Southampton from Tottenham Hotspur in 2020, made over 100 appearances for the Saints and was one of their standout performers despite their recent relegation to the Championship. Known for his pace, versatility, and strong defensive discipline, he is expected to slot directly into the right-back role previously held by Nelson Semedo.
Semedo, who spent three seasons at Molineux following his move from Barcelona, has reportedly turned down a contract extension and is now in talks with clubs abroad. His departure marks the beginning of what sources close to the club are describing as a “restructure” of the defensive line under head coach Gary O’Neil.
Speaking on the signing, Wolves sporting director Matt Hobbs said:
“Kyle is a proven Premier League performer with leadership qualities and the technical ability we’re looking to build around. He’s hungry, experienced, and ready for the challenge ahead.”
Walker-Peters will link up with the squad immediately for pre-season training, with Wolves hopeful that his addition will bring much-needed stability and attacking flair from the back.
More signings are expected in the coming weeks as Wolves look to reinforce their squad and push for a stronger finish in the upcoming Premier League season.
