CONFIRMED: Wolves Right-Back Nélson Semedo Signs Four-Year Deal with Celtic FC

Celtic FC have officially confirmed the signing of Portuguese right-back Nélson Semedo on a four-year deal, following the expiration of his contract with Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The 31-year-old defender joins the Scottish champions on a free transfer, bringing a wealth of experience from both the Premier League and La Liga. Semedo made over 100 appearances for Wolves after joining the club from Barcelona in 2020.

The move, finalized in June 2025, marks Celtic’s first major signing of the summer window. Semedo is expected to play a key role in Brendan Rodgers’ side as they prepare for a demanding domestic campaign and UEFA Champions League football.

Speaking about the transfer, a Celtic spokesperson said:
“Nélson is a proven talent at the highest level of European football. We’re thrilled to welcome him to the club and believe he will bring real quality and leadership to our squad.”

Semedo, known for his pace, work rate, and technical ability, will provide a major boost to Celtic’s defensive line and offer a new dimension going forward.

This move also reflects Celtic’s intent to strengthen the squad with experienced, high-calibre players as they look to build on their recent domestic dominance.

Semedo is expected to join preseason training in early July and could make his debut in Celtic’s opening league fixture in August.
