Hurricanes Continue Loading Up in Trenches with Commitment from Two Linemen

CORAL GABLES, Fla. — The Miami Hurricanes continue to bolster their future in the trenches, landing commitments from two highly touted offensive linemen as part of their 2025 recruiting class.

Head coach Mario Cristobal, a former offensive lineman himself, has made it clear that controlling the line of scrimmage is a top priority—and his latest additions reflect that vision.

The Hurricanes received pledges from four-star offensive tackle Marcus Jefferson out of Atlanta, Georgia, and three-star interior lineman Luis Moreno from Fort Lauderdale.

Both players announced their decisions via social media on Wednesday, citing the program’s direction and Cristobal’s leadership as major factors in their commitments.

Jefferson, standing at 6-foot-6 and weighing 300 pounds, is ranked among the top 15 offensive tackles in the nation by multiple recruiting services. Known for his long arms, quick feet, and ability to dominate in both pass protection and run blocking, Jefferson is viewed as a potential early contributor. He chose Miami over offers from Alabama, Georgia, and Tennessee.

“The culture Coach Cristobal is building is special,” Jefferson said in a statement. “He’s been in my shoes, and I trust him to help me reach my full potential. Miami is on the rise, and I want to be a part of bringing The U back.”

Moreno, at 6-foot-3 and 295 pounds, is considered one of the strongest interior linemen in Florida’s 2025 class. His physicality and high motor have drawn comparisons to recent Miami standout guards. While not as highly ranked nationally, his technique and work ethic have impressed the Hurricanes’ coaching staff.

“I’ve grown up watching the Canes, and it’s always been a dream to play in the orange and green,” Moreno said. “This is home, and I’m ready to work.”

Cristobal, now entering his third full season in charge, has emphasized trench dominance in every recruiting cycle. The Hurricanes signed a top-five offensive line class in 2023 and followed it up with more blue-chip talent in 2024. This latest pair of commitments continues that trend.

Miami’s offensive line was one of the most improved units in the ACC last season, allowing fewer sacks and showing better cohesion in the run game. The addition of Jefferson and Moreno is expected to provide even more depth and competition as the program eyes a return to national relevance.

With over half of their 2025 class already in place, the Hurricanes now turn their attention to several remaining blue-chip defensive line targets, hoping to balance out their efforts on both sides of the ball.

For Cristobal and his staff, the mission is clear: win in the trenches—and win championships. These latest commitments bring them one step closer.
