5-Star Recruit Jaxon Richardson Schedules Official Visit to Alabama Basketball

Alabama men’s basketball head coach Nate Oats has secured an official visit from one of the top prospects in the 2026 recruiting class: 5-star forward Jaxon Richardson. Richardson, standing 6-foot-6, is the son of former NBA All-Star Jason Richardson and the brother of Jase Richardson, a projected NBA lottery pick. The visit is scheduled for September 12, 2025, in Tuscaloosa, as confirmed by Alabama’s NIL collective, Yea-Alabama

Jaxon Richardson is currently ranked among the top 10 recruits in the 2026 class, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. His impressive skill set includes exceptional length, athleticism, and shooting ability, making him a highly sought-after prospect. Despite his family’s strong ties to Michigan State—both his father and older brother played for the Spartans—Richardson has received offers from 21 programs, though Michigan State has not extended one as of now.

Alabama’s interest in the Richardson family is not new. The Crimson Tide were heavily involved in the recruitment of Jase Richardson in the previous cycle. At one point, Alabama was considered the favorite to land Jase.

However, a scheduling issue led to the rescheduling of a visit to Tuscaloosa, allowing Jase to attend a premier recruiting event in East Lansing, which ultimately shifted his commitment to Michigan State. Jase went on to have an outstanding freshman season, averaging 12.1 points per game and shooting 41% from three-point range.

Now, Coach Oats and the Crimson Tide have a second opportunity to recruit a Richardson. Jaxon Richardson’s visit to Alabama could be a pivotal moment in the program’s efforts to secure a commitment from another elite prospect with strong family ties to Michigan State. Alabama’s up-tempo style of play and emphasis on player development could appeal to Richardson’s skill set and aspirations.

As the 2026 recruiting cycle intensifies, Alabama continues to position itself as a national contender by attracting top-tier talent. The outcome of Jaxon Richardson’s official visit will be closely watched, as it may influence the program’s future success and its ability to compete at the highest levels of college basketball.
