Waco youth are taken on a $5,000 shopping spree by Andrew Billings of the Chicago Bears.
WACO, Texas — In a heartwarming gesture that brought smiles to local families, Chicago Bears defensive lineman Andrew Billings returned to his hometown of Waco to treat a group of local youth to an unforgettable shopping spree.

Billings, a former Baylor University standout and Waco native, donated $5,000 to give back to the community that raised him. Partnering with a local retail store, he surprised several young people with a chance to shop for clothes, shoes, school supplies, and personal items — no strings attached.
“It means the world to come back and pour into the community that poured into me,” Billings said. “These kids deserve to feel seen and supported, and sometimes a small gesture can go a long way.”
The event, organized through a local youth outreach program, focused on students who have shown resilience in the face of challenges. Each participant received a set budget to shop for items of their choosing, guided by volunteers and Billings himself.
For 13 years old Malik, the highlight of the day was picking out new sneakers and a backpack. “This is the best day ever,” he said, grinning ear to ear. “I’ve never met someone from the NFL before, and he was so cool.”
Billings, who has played for multiple NFL teams and is now a key member of the Bears’ defensive line, has always emphasized the importance of staying grounded and giving back. He frequently visits Waco and remains involved in several community efforts.
Organizers said the event not only provided material support, but also inspired the youth to dream big.
“Andrew’s generosity goes beyond the money — he’s showing these kids what it looks like to care, to succeed, and to give back,” said a progr
